Sindh High Court Hears Petition for Recovery of Minor Daughters; Police Produce Girls Before Court

Karachi (HRNW): A constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court heard a petition seeking the recovery of two minor girls, who were produced before the court by police during the proceedings.

According to the police, the elder girl informed the court that she had married a man identified as Qurban of her own free will.

Counsel for the petitioner, Bushra Abbas Advocate, argued that the elder girl, Bebo, is 14 years old and was allegedly abducted by Qurban. She further stated that Bebo had also taken her six-year-old sister, Alina, with her.

During the hearing, the girls’ father, Hayatullah, emotionally appealed before the court, saying he had been longing to see his daughters.

In her statement before the court, Bebo claimed that she had married voluntarily, alleging that her father had subjected her to mistreatment.

The constitutional bench directed the investigating officer to formally record the girl’s statement as part of the investigation.

Following the hearing, the father attempted to embrace his daughters within the court premises, but the girls reportedly declined to meet him.

The matter remains under judicial consideration, and further proceedings are expected after the completion of the investigation.
