New York (HRNW) – On 6 July 2026, the United Nations officially opened the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF 2026) at UN Headquarters, bringing together ministers, senior government officials, UN agencies, civil society organizations, youth representatives, and development partners from around the world.

The Forum serves as the UN’s central platform for reviewing progress toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This year’s discussions focus on clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, sustainable cities, resilient infrastructure, and strengthening global partnerships.

UN officials stressed that accelerating action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is essential as the world continues to face climate change, armed conflicts, economic instability, and widening inequalities. Participants will share policy recommendations and best practices to advance sustainable development worldwide.
