Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW): CARE International has renewed its appeal for stronger international support as humanitarian needs continue to grow due to armed conflicts, climate change, food insecurity, and displacement. The organization warned that funding shortfalls are affecting emergency assistance programmes serving millions of vulnerable people across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
CARE continues implementing emergency response programmes that provide food assistance, clean water, healthcare, shelter, livelihoods, and protection services, with a particular focus on women and girls. The organization emphasized that gender equality remains central to effective humanitarian action, as women and girls often face heightened risks during emergencies.
The NGO also continues expanding climate adaptation initiatives that support sustainable agriculture, disaster preparedness, women’s economic empowerment, and community resilience. CARE stated that coordinated action among governments, international institutions, donors, and civil society organizations is essential to address today’s interconnected humanitarian challenges.
Humanitarian specialists observe that locally led development programmes and sustained international cooperation remain critical for reducing poverty, strengthening resilience, and protecting human rights in fragile settings.
