Plan International Expands Global Campaign to Advance Girls’ Rights and Gender Equality

Woking, United Kingdom (HRNW): Plan International has intensified its global advocacy for girls’ rights by expanding programmes that promote education, gender equality, leadership opportunities, and protection from child marriage and gender-based violence. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to removing barriers that prevent girls from fully participating in education, economic life, and public decision-making.

Operating in more than 80 countries, Plan International is currently strengthening community-based programmes that improve access to education, healthcare, digital skills, climate resilience, and youth leadership. The organization continues working with governments, schools, and civil society partners to ensure girls have equal opportunities to develop their potential and participate safely in society.

Plan International also highlighted the growing impact of climate change and humanitarian crises on adolescent girls, noting that emergencies often increase risks of school dropout, exploitation, and early marriage. The NGO called for increased international investment in gender-responsive humanitarian action and inclusive education programmes.

Human rights experts note that empowering girls through education and leadership contributes significantly to poverty reduction, economic growth, and sustainable development worldwide.
