Karachi Police Arrest Suspect in Murder of Six-Year-Old Boy; Sindh CM Orders Transparent Investigation

Karachi (HRNW): A tragic incident in Karachi’s Lea Market area has sparked widespread grief and public outrage after a six-year-old boy was allegedly abducted, sexually assaulted, and murdered.

According to DIG South Asad Raza, police acted swiftly and arrested the prime suspect. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused, identified as Hamza, is a neighbor of the deceased child. Authorities said further investigation is underway.

Police officials stated that investigators are collecting strong forensic and documentary evidence to ensure the suspect is prosecuted and receives the maximum punishment under the law.

Separately, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah was briefed on the case during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House on 8 July 2026.

During the briefing, Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan informed the Chief Minister that the suspect had been arrested and that an FIR had been registered at Napier Police Station. He assured the Chief Minister that he would personally supervise the investigation.

The Additional IG commended the efforts of DIG South Asad Raza and the police team for their prompt action in apprehending the suspect.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed senior police officials to provide full support to the victim’s family, keep them informed throughout the investigation, and ensure that the inquiry is conducted in a transparent and impartial manner.

He also instructed law enforcement authorities to strengthen both the investigation and prosecution so that the accused can be brought to justice through due legal process.

The Chief Minister emphasized that no negligence or leniency would be tolerated in such a heinous crime involving an innocent child.

The incident has triggered strong public condemnation across Karachi, with citizens demanding swift justice and exemplary punishment for those responsible, while calling for stronger child protection measures to help prevent similar crimes in the future.
