KARACHI (HRNW) — Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, in a special message marking the International Day Against Slavery, said slavery and the exploitation of human beings have been among the greatest injustices in human history.
The Chief Minister said the day serves as a reminder that there can be no compromise on human freedom and dignity. He stressed that ending all forms of slavery, oppression and economic exploitation around the world is an urgent need.
Fight Against Human Trafficking and Forced Labour
Murad Ali Shah said Sindh is the land of Sufi saints, where respect for humanity, equality and brotherhood have traditionally been emphasized.
He said society must collectively fight modern forms of hidden slavery and human trafficking, adding that the Sindh government is working toward the complete elimination of forced labour in the province.
According to the Chief Minister, protecting the rights of workers and vulnerable groups is a fundamental constitutional and moral responsibility.
Human Rights and Equality
Murad Ali Shah said genuine development is only possible when discrimination based on colour, race and social class is eliminated.
Ending slavery, forced labour, human trafficking and exploitation requires effective legislation, enforcement of existing laws, protection for victims, equal economic opportunities and access to justice.
State institutions and society share a responsibility to ensure that no individual is subjected to forced labour, exploitation or human trafficking against their will.
