HRCP Demands Immediate Ban on Alleged Fake Police Encounters by CCD in Punjab

Islamabad (HRNW) — The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has expressed deep concern over alleged fake police encounters conducted by the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Punjab, calling for an immediate ban on such operations.

According to an HRCP statement, the CCD carried out 670 encounters over the past eight months, resulting in the deaths of 924 suspected individuals. The statement emphasized that these encounters were not isolated incidents but appeared to follow an institutionalized pattern, raising alarm over the absence of judicial or magisterial inquiries.

The HRCP has urged the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) to investigate the CCD’s operations to ensure accountability and protect citizens’ fundamental rights.
