Karachi (HRNW) — August 24, 2026: Renowned lawyer Ali Ahmed Kurd has expressed concern over the worsening economic conditions in Pakistan, saying that more than 110 million people are currently struggling to afford food.
Speaking about conditions in Karachi, Kurd said he had seen children walking barefoot in the city.
He questioned the situation of Karachi’s residents despite the city being one of the country’s major economic and revenue-generating centers.
Commenting on the political environment, Kurd said that sometimes a single statement can damage the standing of a parliamentarian. He referred to the phrase “product of Form 47”, saying that being described in such terms can undermine the political credibility of a parliamentarian.
Kurd also expressed concern over the declining standing of members of the Pakistan Bar Council, saying they no longer enjoy the level of respect and dignity that they once commanded.
