Geneva (HRNW) — Human rights organizations and UN experts called on governments to support a new climate resolution proposed by Vanuatu at the United Nations.
The initiative seeks an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on countries’ legal obligations regarding climate change and environmental protection.
Supporters argue that a ruling from the court could clarify international responsibilities and strengthen global action against climate-related human rights threats such as rising sea levels, extreme weather, and displacement.
