Gaza children’s honesty: Scattered fruits returned to owner; “This is haram” principle upheld

Gaza (HRNW) — A Gaza journalist shared images and a statement on social media showing that a street vendor’s cart lost balance in a neighbourhood, causing all the fruits on it to scatter across the road. Within moments, children gathered around the fallen produce, but their behaviour was remarkable: some told the others, “This is haram, don’t pick up any fruit; return everything to its owner.”

The journalist noted that although many of the children likely wanted to eat the fruit—and their families may not even be able to afford fruit in these dire circumstances—they still collected all the scattered items and handed them back to the vendor. The children not only returned the goods but also helped the vendor, as if he were their own father.

Human rights and ethics angle
HRNW stresses that this act by Gaza’s children, amid injustice, hunger, pain and extreme need, is a living example of honesty, trustworthiness and high moral values. Such incidents reflect that human dignity, ethics and mutual compassion can endure even in the most difficult conditions.
