Karachi (HRNW) – Inspector General of Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho chaired an important review meeting at the Central Police Office Karachi regarding progress in the Priya Kumari missing case and other complaints related to missing persons.
The meeting was attended in person by Additional IG Karachi, DIG Headquarters, DIG Special Branch, and Additional Inspectors General, while zonal and divisional DIGs along with concerned SSPs participated through video link.
During the meeting, the AIG Gender-Based Violence and Human Rights briefed participants in detail about the Priya Kumari missing case and other missing persons cases, including the progress made in investigations.
According to the briefing, during the recent days, three children who had been reported missing due to love marriages and personal disputes between married couples were safely recovered and presented before the relevant courts.
Regarding the Priya Kumari missing case, officials informed the meeting that after the formation of a new Joint Investigation Team (JIT), a fresh investigation process has formally been initiated. The SSP Sukkur provided an update on the latest developments in the case.
IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho directed the concerned DIGs and SSPs to regularly review investigations related to the recovery of Priya Kumari and other missing children and to hold regular meetings to submit progress reports.
He instructed that strict departmental action should be taken against responsible officials in cases where no progress is made after registration of a missing person case or where negligence and carelessness are found.
The IG Sindh stated that reducing serious crimes, along with cases involving missing children and human rights violations, remains among the top priorities of Sindh Police.
He appreciated the performance of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in the recovery of children and handling of other important cases.
IG Sindh further directed that all cases related to missing children and abuse should be reviewed again, and a comprehensive report based on the latest progress should be submitted at the earliest.
