UNESCO Reports Alarming Rise in Out-of-School Children

Paris, France (HRNW)- The UNESCO 2026 Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report, released on March 31, reveals that the number of children and youth out of school has risen for the seventh consecutive year, reaching 273 million. Driven by regional crises and shrinking educational budgets, the report highlights that one in six children worldwide is now excluded from education. UNESCO officials emphasized that despite progress in some nations, global displacement and population growth are outpacing educational infrastructure development.
