International Society for Human Rights Expands Global Advocacy for Political Prisoners and Human Rights Defenders

Frankfurt, Germany (HRNW): The International Society for Human Rights (ISHR) has expanded its international advocacy programmes supporting political prisoners, persecuted activists, and human rights defenders across multiple regions. Through legal advocacy, humanitarian initiatives, and cooperation with democratic institutions, the organization continues promoting fundamental freedoms, the rule of law, and protection of individuals facing political persecution.

The organization’s political sponsorship programme continues encouraging elected representatives and public leaders to advocate for imprisoned activists by raising individual cases with governments, diplomatic missions, and international organizations. ISHR believes sustained international attention can contribute to improved protection for individuals detained because of their peaceful human rights activities.

Alongside advocacy, ISHR continues coordinating humanitarian assistance, supporting refugees, and promoting international awareness of freedom of religion, freedom of expression, and democratic participation. The organization also collaborates with regional and international institutions to encourage implementation of international human rights standards and strengthen civic participation.

Founded in 1972, the International Society for Human Rights maintains consultative and observer relationships with several international institutions and remains active in promoting peaceful advocacy, humanitarian assistance, and international cooperation to advance universal human rights.
