In an official statement issued on March 16, the Foreign Office conveyed heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Ethiopia, specifically addressing the disaster that struck the Gamo Zone in the South Ethiopia Regional State.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated that Pakistan stands in full solidarity with the Ethiopian people during this difficult time. The statement commended the tireless efforts of Ethiopian rescue teams and authorities currently engaged in search and relief operations.
Furthermore, Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to international humanitarian cooperation, offering to extend all possible assistance and resources to support Ethiopia’s recovery efforts. Recent reports indicate that the death toll from the floods and mudslides has risen to at least 102, with dozens still missing following days of intense rainfall.
