Islamabad (HRNW)- Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has stressed the need for integrated and comprehensive planning to address growing pressure on Pakistan’s land and water resources due to the country’s rapidly increasing population.
Addressing a national workshop on integrated land and water use planning in Islamabad, Ahsan Iqbal said sustainable strategies were essential to make effective use of limited resources, address increasing water pressures and tackle the impacts of climate change.
He emphasized that land and water resources must remain central to national development plans, while policymaking should be guided by scientific research, modern technology and ground realities.
The minister said challenges related to food, water and environmental security could be addressed through stronger coordination between the federation and provinces and improved cooperation among institutions.
He added that recommendations from the national workshop and technical working group would contribute to future policymaking. He stressed that balancing development with environmental protection and conserving natural resources for future generations was a shared responsibility.
