Sana’a (HRNW): Fighting between the Houthis and Saudi-backed government forces has intensified again in Yemen, with Saudi-backed forces stepping up retaliatory operations against the Houthis.
According to Houthi media, Saudi aircraft carried out 32 airstrikes in Marib, Al-Jawf, Taiz and Al-Hudaydah provinces. The Houthis claimed the strikes came a day after their drone and missile attacks on several southern Saudi cities, which Saudi officials said injured 73 people.
Fierce clashes are also continuing along Yemen’s western coast and around Taiz. The latest escalation is being described as the most serious fighting in Yemen since the end of the 2022 ceasefire.
The renewed violence has raised fears of a wider conflict, while fighting near the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait continues to pose risks to regional security and global maritime trade.
