Kyiv (HRNW)- Russia launched a major missile and drone attack on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv after a three-day lull, killing at least five people and injuring more than 30 others.
According to Ukrainian officials, fires broke out in several parts of Kyiv, while at least 14 high-rise buildings, a hostel, school, clinic and warehouses were damaged. A Russian drone also partially destroyed the building of a Ukrainian television channel.
The attack came after US peace negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff left Kyiv following discussions on a possible ceasefire and the resumption of Russia-Ukraine talks.
Ukraine’s Air Force said its air defenses intercepted almost all cruise missiles and two ballistic missiles. However, other areas also suffered casualties and damage, while a Russian drone targeted a train in the northern Sumy region, prompting the evacuation of passengers.
The latest attack has raised concerns over renewed escalation and dealt another setback to ongoing ceasefire efforts.
