Karachi (HRNW) – In the murder case of three-year-old Kulsum in Landhi Quaidabad, the arrested suspects were produced before the Judicial Magistrate at Malir Court, where the court handed them over to police for further investigation.
The court granted four-day physical remand of the accused persons Sakina and Nadir to police custody.
During the hearing, the family members of the deceased child were present in court. According to reports, during the proceedings, accused Sakina and Nadir allegedly broke down and repeatedly sought forgiveness, requesting the child’s father to pardon them.
The investigation officer informed the court that accused Sakina is the paternal aunt (chachi) of the deceased child, while accused Nadir is Sakina’s brother.
According to the investigation officer, both accused persons allegedly confessed during interrogation. Police claimed that after allegedly killing the child, Sakina sought Nadir’s assistance to dispose of the body.
Police further stated that the child was allegedly killed on June 23, and the body was placed inside a flour sack and left near the door of the house.
From a human rights perspective, crimes against children are among the most serious violations requiring transparent investigations, protection of victims’ families, child safety measures, and strict adherence to due process. Any accused person’s guilt or innocence must be determined through a fair judicial process based on evidence.
