Karachi (HRNW) — Police have submitted the charge sheet in the Gul Plaza fire case before the City Court, naming the Gul Plaza Association as primarily responsible for the incident.
According to the charge sheet, no negligence was found on the part of KMC, the Fire Brigade or Civil Defence, effectively giving the relevant government institutions a clean chit.
The police have included 87 witnesses in the charge sheet. Questions have also been raised regarding fire safety arrangements at Gul Plaza.
According to the investigation, various pieces of evidence were collected, including CCTV footage, USB devices, NVR and DVR recordings.
The forensic report stated that no explosive material was found in the examined items, while no traces of any flammable or incendiary liquid were detected either. However, the report identified the presence of certain residual particles in some items that remained after burning.
The police charge sheet also refers to the alleged negligence of the Gul Plaza administration and shortcomings in fire safety arrangements. Statements regarding safety measures inside the shops and the building have also been incorporated into the charge sheet.
Police submitted the charge sheet to the court for further legal proceedings and appropriate judicial orders.
