Kampala, Uganda (HRNW): Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is continuing its emergency response to the 2026 Ebola outbreak, deploying medical and humanitarian expertise to support affected communities while emphasizing the need for rapid diagnosis, infection prevention and community engagement. MSF published a new update on 1 September 2026.
MSF’s response includes supporting Ebola treatment and isolation capacities, strengthening infection-prevention measures and assisting health authorities and communities during the outbreak.
The organization says the response requires more than medical treatment alone. Ebola emergencies can disrupt ordinary healthcare services, create fear and stigma, and make it more difficult for people to access routine medical care.
MSF has emphasized the importance of ensuring that communities receive clear health information and trusted medical support so that people understand symptoms, transmission risks and when to seek treatment.
The organization is also highlighting the importance of research and development for diseases caused by the Bundibugyo virus, including continued work on treatment and prevention options.
For humanitarian organizations, outbreaks such as Ebola present a dual challenge: responding rapidly to the disease while maintaining essential healthcare services for people suffering from other illnesses.
