BEIRUT, LEBANON (HRNW) — Save the Children has warned that children across Lebanon continue to face serious risks from violence and displacement, with hundreds of thousands of people still internally displaced despite a ceasefire announced in June.
In its latest update published on September 2, Save the Children reported that more than seven children have been killed or injured every day on average during six months of violence. The organization said approximately 348,800 people remain internally displaced across Lebanon, leaving many families uncertain about when they can safely return home.
The child-rights organization said the continuing instability is affecting children’s safety, education, mental health and access to essential services. Displacement can also expose children to additional risks, including family separation, exploitation and disruption of schooling.
Save the Children has continued calling for children to be protected from violence and for humanitarian assistance to reach families affected by displacement and insecurity.
The organization stressed that children must remain at the center of humanitarian and recovery planning, particularly as families face uncertainty over their homes, education and futures.
