UNICEF has stepped up its emergency response to devastating flash floods in Nepal, with a flight carrying 84 metric tonnes of critical humanitarian supplies arriving in Kathmandu on 4 September.
The supplies include essential items for children and families affected by flooding in the Bhotekoshi–Trishuli river basin. UNICEF said the assistance is being dispatched to communities facing urgent humanitarian needs following the disaster.
The latest operation comes as UN agencies and humanitarian partners work to reach isolated communities and restore access to essential services, including water, sanitation, health and protection for children.
UNICEF said the emergency response is being supported by European Union humanitarian assistance.
