UN Security Council Extends Afghanistan Assistance Mission

New York (HRNW)The United Nations Security Council has approved a short-term extension of the mandate for the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

The mission plays a key role in coordinating humanitarian assistance, supporting political dialogue, and monitoring human rights conditions across Afghanistan. The extension allows UN agencies to continue delivering critical aid to millions of Afghans facing severe economic hardship, food insecurity, and limited access to healthcare and education.

UN officials stressed that sustained international engagement is necessary to prevent further deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the country.
