Karachi (HRNW) —: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced the withdrawal of restrictions imposed on the use of official vehicles and fuel, with normal operations set to resume from September 1, 2026.
According to the notification, KMC has reversed its earlier decision to ground 60 percent of its official vehicles as part of fuel-saving and austerity measures.
Restrictions previously imposed on the use of vehicles by Grade-17 officers have also been withdrawn.
A formal notification has been issued and signed by KMC Financial Adviser Gulzar Ali, directing the relevant departments regarding the restoration of normal vehicle use.
The restrictions were introduced in March 2026 amid a fuel crisis and financial constraints. Under the austerity measures, around 60 percent of KMC vehicles were grounded to reduce fuel consumption and expenditure.
With the restrictions now withdrawn, KMC’s official vehicles will return to normal operational use from September 1.
