Karachi (HRNW)- The Sindh High Court has issued an arrest warrant for Union Council Chairman Saleh Muhammad in a pension case involving a woman who was allegedly declared dead in official records.
The court heard a petition filed by Safia, whose lawyer stated that her husband had three marriages and that NADRA and Union Council records showed Safia Begum as deceased. According to the petitioner’s lawyer, the pension is consequently being received by the first wife.
During the hearing, NADRA’s lawyer said the authority verifies online records and that, according to Union Council records, the woman had been declared dead. The court subsequently issued an arrest warrant for UC Chairman Saleh Muhammad and summoned him for the next hearing.
The Sindh High Court adjourned further proceedings until September 9.
