Islamabad (HRNW) — : Twenty-one former international cricket captains have written another letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, renewing their appeal for proper and humane medical care for former Pakistan captain and former prime minister Imran Khan. The letter is dated August 23 and follows an earlier appeal by 14 former captains in February.
The former cricket leaders said recent developments concerning Khan’s medical examination did not, in their view, fully comply with the Supreme Court’s directions. They urged the government to allow the court-directed medical board to complete an independent assessment of Khan’s health.
The signatories also called for the restoration of weekly family visits and for any treatment recommended by the medical board to be provided without delay. They stressed that their appeal was not intended to interfere in Pakistan’s domestic political or legal processes, but was focused on humane treatment and medical care.
Among those who signed the letter are Michael Atherton, Allan Border, Michael Brearley, Greg Chappell, Ian Chappell, Alastair Cook, Belinda Clark, Adam Gilchrist, David Gower, Nasser Hussain, Clive Lloyd, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Arjuna Ranatunga, Andrew Strauss, Steve Waugh and John Wright, among others.
