Lahore High Court Directs Subordinate Courts to Decide Stay Applications Within 30 Days

Lahore (HRNW): The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued an important directive to all District and Sessions Judges across Punjab, instructing them to dispose of all pending temporary injunction (stay order) applications within 30 days.

According to the directive, all pending applications filed under Order XXXIX Rules 1 and 2 of the Code of Civil Procedure (CPC), along with all related miscellaneous applications, must be decided within the prescribed 30-day period to ensure the timely administration of justice.

The Lahore High Court has also directed every district to submit compliance reports confirming that subordinate courts are implementing the instructions effectively.

Legal experts believe the directive is aimed at reducing unnecessary delays in civil litigation, improving judicial efficiency, and ensuring that litigants receive timely decisions on applications seeking interim relief. They note that prolonged pendency of stay applications often delays the progress of civil cases and can result in financial, legal, and administrative hardships for the parties involved.

The directive is expected to strengthen judicial accountability, enhance case management practices, and promote faster access to justice across Punjab’s subordinate courts.
