Geneva (HRNW) – On 7 July 2026, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) appealed for greater international support as humanitarian needs among refugees and forcibly displaced people continue to rise worldwide.
UNHCR warned that ongoing conflicts, political instability, climate-related disasters, and forced displacement have placed unprecedented pressure on humanitarian operations. The agency stressed that funding shortages could significantly impact the delivery of shelter, healthcare, education, and protection services.
The Organization urged governments, donors, and humanitarian partners to increase financial contributions to ensure that millions of displaced people continue receiving life-saving assistance and long-term protection.
