WHO Urges Countries to Strengthen Pandemic Preparedness and Public Health Systems

Geneva (HRNW) – On 7 July 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO) called on Member States to strengthen national public health systems and pandemic preparedness to better respond to future global health emergencies.

WHO emphasized the importance of disease surveillance, rapid emergency response, equitable access to vaccines, and resilient healthcare systems. The Organization noted that continued international cooperation remains vital to protecting global health security.

WHO also encouraged countries to invest in healthcare infrastructure, workforce development, and scientific research to improve preparedness for future outbreaks.
