UN Secretary-General Calls for De-escalation, Humanitarian Access, and Responsible AI Governance

New York (HRNW) – On 2 July 2026, the United Nations Secretary-General renewed his call for de-escalation of global conflicts, urging all parties involved in ongoing crises to prioritize dialogue, diplomacy, and the protection of civilians in accordance with international law.

During the daily UN press briefing, officials highlighted the urgent need to ensure safe and unhindered humanitarian access to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters. The UN emphasized that millions of people continue to depend on life-saving assistance, while humanitarian agencies face increasing operational and financial challenges.

The Organization also announced preparations for the upcoming Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence Governance, where governments, experts, civil society, and the private sector will discuss ethical standards, international cooperation, and governance frameworks to ensure the safe and responsible development of AI technologies.

The United Nations reiterated that stronger multilateral cooperation remains essential to addressing conflicts, humanitarian emergencies, and emerging technological challenges affecting global peace and sustainable development.
