Muscat (HRNW)- A vessel passing through the Strait of Hormuz was struck by a projectile from an unknown direction, damaging its engine room and injuring one crew member.
According to British Maritime Trade Operations, the incident occurred as the ship was exiting the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel’s security officer reported that the engine room sustained damage following the attack.
The Omani Coast Guard is assisting the remaining crew members aboard the affected vessel. Officials said no pollution or environmental damage has been reported as a result of the incident.
The latest incident has raised renewed concerns over maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global shipping and energy supplies.
