Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW)- On 20 June 2026, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) called on the international community to strengthen protection and support for millions of people displaced by war, conflict, persecution, and violence.
UNHCR emphasized that refugees need more than temporary shelter—they require access to education, healthcare, decent employment, and opportunities to rebuild their lives with dignity. The agency urged governments and humanitarian partners to increase cooperation and long-term solutions for displaced populations.
