Humanitarian Crisis Deepens in Cuba; EU and UN Step Up Aid

Havana, Cuba (HRNW) In response to a worsening energy crisis and acute food shortages, the European Commission, in coordination with UN partners, released an additional €2 million in humanitarian aid for the Cuban population on April 2, 2026. The funding is specifically earmarked for logistics support to ensure that life-saving food and drinking water reach the most vulnerable communities. UN agencies highlighted that the cumulative impact of recent hurricanes and economic instability has left nearly two million people in urgent need of assistance.
