Beirut, Lebanon (HRNW) Following a formal condemnation by the Security Council late yesterday, UN agencies on April 2, 2026, scaled up emergency operations in Lebanon. The move comes after targeted strikes resulted in the deaths of Indonesian peacekeepers serving with UNIFIL. UN humanitarian coordinators warned that the displacement of over 200,000 people has created a “catastrophic” situation, with temporary shelters reaching maximum capacity. Efforts are now focused on establishing safe humanitarian corridors for the delivery of medical supplies and clean water.
