New York (HRNW) – On 5 July 2026, the United Nations announced that delegations from member states, UN agencies, international organizations, and civil society had begun arriving in New York ahead of the 2026 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, which opens on 6 July at UN Headquarters.
The Forum will review global progress toward achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with discussions focusing on poverty eradication, quality education, public health, climate action, sustainable cities, food security, gender equality, and international partnerships.
UN officials noted that the world continues to face significant challenges, including armed conflicts, climate change, economic uncertainty, and widening inequalities, making stronger multilateral cooperation more important than ever.
Throughout the Forum, ministers, senior UN officials, development experts, and representatives of civil society will exchange best practices and explore practical solutions to accelerate implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals while ensuring that no one is left behind.
