UN Warns Global Human Rights System Under Pressure

Geneva (HRNW) — Human rights experts at the United Nations have warned that the global human rights system is under increasing strain due to wars, political repression, and weakening international cooperation.

The UN Human Rights Council, currently meeting in Geneva, is reviewing multiple country situations and discussing key issues such as protection of human rights defenders, freedom of religion, and the right to food and housing. Experts say conflicts and authoritarian policies are placing unprecedented pressure on international human rights protections.
