Cairo (HRNW)- Cairo Criminal Court has sentenced 12 people, including prominent TV host and media personality Sarah Khalifa, to death after convicting them of forming an organized criminal group involved in the manufacture and smuggling of drugs. The verdict was issued on September 5, 2026.
According to prosecutors, the group allegedly imported raw materials for synthetic drugs from abroad, manufactured the drugs and distributed them for sale. Authorities reportedly seized more than 750 kilograms of drugs and related materials, along with illegal weapons and ammunition. Two residential apartments were also allegedly used as secret drug-production laboratories.
A total of 28 people were named in the case. The court sentenced 12 to death, nine to life imprisonment and acquitted seven others.
Sarah Khalifa, 39, who hosted the crime and security program Mission Impossible, and the other convicted individuals have the right to appeal before Egypt’s highest criminal court. Therefore, the death sentences are not yet final and irrevocable.
