Beirut (HRNW)- Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji has confirmed that he has received security warnings in recent days, prompting him to limit his regular attendance at the Foreign Ministry. Lebanese sources said Raji has been working from home for around two months due to security concerns.
Raji has taken a firm position that Lebanon’s sovereignty and state institutions should have full authority over the country, including control of weapons held by armed groups. The Lebanese Foreign Ministry has also said that Raji has accused Iran of influencing Hezbollah’s affairs.
A Lebanese Foreign Ministry source claimed that elements affiliated with Hezbollah could be behind campaigns targeting Raji. However, there has been no independent confirmation of a direct death threat against the minister from Hezbollah.
Raji’s position comes amid a broader political dispute in Lebanon over state sovereignty and Hezbollah’s weapons. The Lebanese government seeks to strengthen state authority, while Hezbollah maintains that its weapons are part of its resistance against Israel.
