Tehran (HRNW)- Iranian authorities have arrested several people allegedly seen waving the flag of the banned Mujahedin-e-Khalq organization in a video circulating on social media.
According to Iranian state television, the videos showed motorcyclists waving a white-and-red flag while traveling on empty streets near Karaj, west of Tehran. Authorities said they had identified and arrested all individuals seen in the footage, although no specific number of arrests was disclosed.
The Mujahedin-e-Khalq was banned in Iran following the 1979 Islamic Revolution and has long advocated regime change from abroad. Tehran has also accused the organization of cooperating with Israel.
The arrests come amid heightened military tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel, with Iranian authorities placing increased emphasis on internal security.
