KABUL (HRNW) – Afghanistan is reportedly facing a deepening economic and humanitarian crisis, with international agencies warning of worsening poverty, hunger, and food insecurity across the country.
According to Afghan news agencies Ariana News and Tolo News, the United Nations has raised alarm over the deteriorating situation under the Taliban administration, stating that more than 13 million people are currently food insecure, with women and children being the most affected.
The UN further warned that Afghanistan is facing multiple overlapping crises, including economic collapse and rising unemployment, while access to essential nutritional supplies required for treating malnourished women and children has been severely disrupted.
Reports suggest that widespread economic instability and a weakened state system have contributed to worsening living conditions, with Afghanistan increasingly described by observers as struggling with state functionality and basic service delivery.
Some experts argue that the country’s resources are being mismanaged, further aggravating hardship for ordinary citizens who continue to face severe shortages of food, healthcare, and employment opportunities.
