Nairobi, Kenya (HRNW)- On 20 May 2026, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) called for immediate international action to address worsening plastic pollution worldwide.
UNEP officials warned that plastic waste is severely damaging oceans, wildlife, and public health, especially in developing countries lacking proper waste management systems. The agency urged governments and industries to adopt sustainable environmental policies and reduce single-use plastics.
