Pakistan Among Top 10 Countries Facing Severe Food Crisis; 11 Million Affected

KARACHI (HRNW): According to the UN-backed Global Report on Food Crises (2026), Pakistan has been identified as one of the 10 countries most severely impacted by food insecurity. The report confirms that during 2025, approximately 11 million Pakistanis lacked adequate access to food. Alarmingly, 1.7 million of these individuals reached “Emergency Level” (IPC Phase 4), a critical stage just one step away from famine.

The report includes Afghanistan, Congo, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen on this list of crisis-affected nations. Despite being an agrarian economy, Pakistan’s current situation is attributed to a combination of climate change—including devastating floods and crop failures—economic pressure, and governance challenges.
