Contempt of Court: Balochistan High Court Summons Secretary Industries and MD LIEDA

QUETTA (HRNW): The Khuzdar Bench of the Balochistan High Court (sitting in Quetta) has suspended the recent recruitment advertisement issued by the Lasbela Industrial Estate Development Authority (LIEDA) and summoned the Secretary of Industries and the Managing Director (MD) of LIEDA to appear personally in a contempt of court case.

In another significant development, the court heard a contempt petition (02/2026) filed by Subhan Ali and ten other candidates. Syed Zahoor Agha Advocate, representing the petitioners, informed the court that the High Court had previously issued a clear order on May 22, 2025 (C.P No. 56/2025), regarding these specific recruitments.

Allegations of Judicial Violation:

  • Contemptuous Re-advertisement: The counsel argued that government officials acted in direct violation of the court’s standing orders by re-advertising the vacancies.

  • Legal Standpoint: This move was characterized as a blatant act of contempt, disregarding the legal directives established in the earlier petition.

  • Judicial Reaction: Expressing severe displeasure over the violation, the court issued formal notices to the Secretary of Industries and the MD LIEDA.

The court has ordered both high-ranking officials to present themselves at the next hearing to explain the breach of judicial instructions. The suspension of the recruitment process remains in effect until further deliberation by the bench.
