UN Security Council: Gaza Crisis and West Bank Violence Deemed “Unsustainable”

New York, United States (HRNW) — During a high-stakes meeting at the United Nations headquarters on March 24, 2026, senior UN officials briefed the Security Council on the escalating catastrophe in the Middle East. Deputy Special Coordinator Ramiz Alakbarov warned that the status quo in Gaza and the surge in settler violence in the West Bank have reached an “unsustainable” level. The Council discussed the implementation of Resolution 2334, with experts highlighting that persistent settlement activity and the lack of a comprehensive ceasefire are dismantling any remaining hopes for a two-state solution.
