Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW)- On 26 June 2026, marking the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) urged governments to eradicate torture, investigate all allegations impartially, and ensure justice and rehabilitation for survivors.
The Office stressed that torture is absolutely prohibited under international law and called for stronger legal safeguards, accountability, and support services for victims.
