UN Secretary-General Calls for Action on Women’s Rights

New York (HRNW) — Ahead of International Women’s Day, António Guterres called on governments worldwide to take stronger action to eliminate discriminatory laws and protect women’s rights.

In a message released by the UN, Guterres warned that progress toward gender equality remains uneven and that millions of women and girls still face barriers in education, employment, and political participation.

The Secretary-General emphasized that achieving equality requires concrete policy changes, stronger legal protections, and increased investment in programs that empower women and girls around the world.
