Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW)- On 17–18 May 2026, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) urged the global community to provide greater assistance to refugees and internally displaced families.
The agency warned that millions of displaced people are struggling to survive without adequate shelter, food, education, and healthcare. UNHCR emphasized that humanitarian funding shortages are threatening relief operations in several crisis-hit regions.
