WHO Warns of Growing Risk of Infectious Disease Outbreaks

Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW)- On 17 May 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that fragile healthcare systems and climate-related disasters are increasing the risk of infectious disease outbreaks worldwide.

WHO officials stated that vulnerable communities are facing heightened threats from cholera, dengue, and other preventable diseases due to poor sanitation, displacement, and limited healthcare access. The agency called for urgent international health cooperation.
