WFP Warns of Massive Global Hunger Spike Amid Middle East Supply Chain Collapse

Rome, Italy (HRNW) — The World Food Programme (WFP) issued an urgent warning on Thursday, stating that the escalating conflict is creating a “dual chokepoint” scenario for global food logistics. With shipping containers facing a $3,000 emergency surcharge and fuel prices soaring, the cost of delivering life-saving aid has become nearly unsustainable. The WFP reported that internal displacement in Lebanon and economic collapse in Iran are pushing millions into severe food insecurity. The agency noted that even outside the conflict zone, the price of staples is rising, threatening to undo years of progress in global hunger eradication.
