Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW) On April 1, 2026, the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council adopted a consensus resolution titled “Combating Intolerance and Negative Stereotyping Based on Religion or Belief.” Sponsored by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the resolution expresses deep concern over the stigmatization of individuals based on their faith and condemns any advocacy of religious hatred in media. The council called on all states to take effective measures to ensure public officials do not discriminate and to foster a culture of religious pluralism.
